Day 03

What you’ll be doing…

Today you’ll have a fun-filled day enjoying stand up paddleboarding (using our new Mega stand up paddleboards which are extra large and more sturdy for beginners!) You’ll also enjoy rifle shooting, kata kanu & bushcraft.

In the evening, you can relax & toast marshmallows around the campfire. The perfect end to an action-packed day!

Stand up Paddleboarding (including new MEGA SUPs!)

Stand up Paddleboarding is one of the most popular water sports at the moment, with many taking up this activity. It involves standing up on a large board (we now have some mega SUPs to make things a little easier!) and you use a paddle to move through the water. It’s all about finding your balance, which can be tricky to start with but once you’ve mastered that part, it’s a really enjoyable activity and a great way to explore the waters.

Rifle Shooting

A rifle is a long gun with a rifled barrel, and requires the use of both hands to hold and brace against the shoulder via a stock in order to shoot steadily. Our rifle ranges are set up safely so you can have a go at this enjoyable activity securely. Who will hit the target?

Kata Kanu

Our Kata Kanu activity takes place on Llangorse Lake. A Katakanu is a twin hulled canoe, large enough for 6 people (or more!). This easy to paddle, very stable craft allows you to play about and have loads of fun on the lake, with little chance of capsizing.

Bushcraft

Bushcraft is a really fun family activity that explores the art of using the resources provided by our natural environment to survive and thrive in the great outdoors. This hugely popular activity takes place at our Wild Camp, across the lake and will teach you basic survival skills such as fire lighting, shelter building and cooking on the campfire as well as a range of other useful techniques. Would you be able to survive in the wilderness? Let’s find out…

Day 04

A day to relax and explore…

With such an action-packed programme, families enjoy taking a day off to relax and explore the local area. There are plenty of walks on the doorstep or even a horse riding centre close by if you’re still eager for activities. For a more leisurely day, the towns of Brecon and Abergavenny are nice for a mooch around and there are all sorts of things to see & do in the local area. Find out more what’s on offer here.

Day 05

What’s in store today?

Today you’ll be out on the water again, this time- raft-building, followed by archery and a hill walk in the afternoon after a hot lunch. The evening will be spent either relaxing or joining in the evening entertainment, put on by our team.

Raft Building

Raft Building takes place on Llangorse lake and is a great activity for families as it gets you all working together in a team to build your raft, from logs and barrels. The rafts come in all shapes and sizes, and it’s only your imagination or creativity which limits what can be built. The question is, will yours float?

Archery

Archery is a fun, competitive sport that involves shooting arrows from a bow. Shooting the arrows is relatively easy, it’s hitting the target that’s a bit more tricky! This activity will teach you the basics of this fantastic olympic sport. See you in Beijing 2022?

Hill Walk

A visit to the Brecon Beacons National Park would not be complete without a walk into the surrounding hills. Our staff will take you on a popular route from the centre which offers glorious views of the local area.

Reviews from Acorn Family

Just back home from a week at the Ardeche centre. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. First class food, even freshly prepared on the river bank. Brilliant. Instructors very knowledgeable and brimming with enthusiasm. Steve and Lauren caving – great. Rich( dick) homer kayaking super. And Becky on the decent – brilliant. Thanks again. Kids in bed, me soaking in the bath! Cheers Paul( the daft bald fireman).

First time been with acorn at their Normandy campsite, it was BRILLIANT!! We both loved it , activities were great , food really tasty , staff fantastic . Met a great bunch of people.

My 5 year old daughter is still, 3 weeks later, talking about the paddleboard instructor (he looked a bit like David Walliams!!) who put her in the water to splash around, whilst I got chance to paddleboard. Awesome day! Thanks to him please, as otherwise I would have had to leave the activity as I did with kayaking. Much appreciated! Thanks to everyone. Faultless holiday. Perfect.

J Safari

If you want happy, exhausted children then try this holiday. There was an excellent mix of activities and evening entertainment that we would not change and left my son wanting more
